Pricing Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words
Pricing - Essay Example Therefore it is an exchange ratio between goods and services. Pricing is important in marketing as it determines how a product or service will be accepted in the market. It is one of the most valuable four variables that are used in the marketing mix which are used to develop a business plan. This means that it is central to the operation of a profit oriented firm. (McNamara 2007, P. 61) As we have seen, pricing is one of the four factors that are used in the marketing mix of a firm and which is central to the development of a viable business plan. In this regard, pricing is important aspect in market which has been as central to marketing. This is because the main aim of marketing is to take the production to as many customers as it can at the most affordable price that they can afford. Therefore the main aim of marketing as defined is to sell as many products as possible. There are many considerations that have to be made in marketing. In order to reach the target customer there are number of consideration that has to be made and the cost of the products as they are being taken to the consumers is one of those important factors that have to be considered. While pricing a product it is useful for any marketing strategy to take into account the cost structure and the willingness of the customers to pay for the product and also look to the effect of the competing from firms which are selling the same products in the same market. Therefore a good marketing strategy is not the one that blankly targets the demand market but it is the one the targets the consumer and also consider the effect of other competitors in the market. In this regard the competitor and the willingness of the buyers to buy a product at a particular price will have an effect on the overall capability of the firm to sell its products. The firm must also consider the effect of demand dynamics. There are many sources of the demand dynamics. One of the factor that affect demand dynamics is the dependence effects. This is particular to the inexpensive goods which are frequently purchased by the consumers like the household goods. For example if we take an example of Coke and Pepsi drinks, the probability that a consumers will purchase any of the product will depend on many factors which are based on preference and loyalty which affects the demand of the product. One consumer may decide buy Pepsi based on the experience one had on the product th e last time it was purchased. On the other hand one may decide to by Coke as a matter of wanting to experience the difference between the two products. This would be in spirit of wanting to try something different from the other. In this case the consumer will be responding toe what can be referred to as market activities which are driven by demand dynamics. (Michael 2006, P. 34) This shows that there are many market activities that are likely to affect the way a company is going to set it price in the market. The choice of brand of a product in the market is likely to be one of the ways in which a firm is likely to set price. For example in the above given example coke and Pepsi may be coming from the company but in real sense they may be retailing at different prices. While both of them are soft drinks, the demand dynamic

Innovation in a market economy Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Innovation in a market economy - Essay Example Organizations cannot exist in the market with the conventional products alone. For example, think of a situation in which Microsoft sticking with its old operating system Windows 3 series alone at present. Everybody knows that Microsoft was able to keep its monopoly in the software industry purely because of their ability to innovate news products or incorporate new features to their existing products. Thus we got Windows 95, 98, 2000, XP, Vista like updated versions of windows. It is not possible for Microsoft to accommodate the requirements of the current world using their older versions of operating systems. The current facilities like video conferencing, video chat, high resolution graphics processing, internet, e-mail etc may not run its older versions of Windows. Thus innovation makes an organization capable of meeting the present challenges by updating their existing technologies. Innovation is needed even in formulating strategies. Same strategy may not work everywhere even if the product is the same. Parker Pen Company has tried to implement same marketing strategies to market their writing equipments all over the world at the beginning of their international campaign. They thought same product needs same marketing strategies everywhere. But they failed miserably because of the above strategy. ââ¬Å"Product may be the same, but may be differentâ⬠, Parker Pen Company failed to recognize the above fact. ââ¬Å"The idea of selling pens the same way everywhere did not sit well with many parker subsidiaries and distributors. Imperial Structures of Egypt and Israel Essay Example for Free
Imperial Structures of Egypt and Israel Essay AP World History Comparative Essay: Imperial Structures of Egypt and Israel The richness and consistency of the annual Nile River flood, combined with isolation due to the deserts of the east and west, are leading factors into why Egypt is one of the worldââ¬â¢s great civilizations. On the other hand, Israelââ¬â¢s strategic location has played an important role in world history, despite its small size and lack of resources. Although the imperial structures of Ancient Egypt and Israel have historical similarities in political and social hierarchy such as a monarchic systems of government and grave respect for their women, they have distinct differences that distinguish them from each other such as religion and their beliefs. In political hierarchies, both Ancient Egypt and Imperial Israel relied on their monarchy to maintain order within their civilizations. Egyptââ¬â¢s growing population led to a more complex political organization, making imperial structures way more complex also. The political hierarchy of Egypt consisted of a Divine Kingship, where the kings were called pharaohs, which is another word for ââ¬Å"palaceâ⬠. Israelââ¬â¢s political structures and strategies were remarkably similar to the agrarian state of Egypt which was ruled by an elite. A religious leader by the name of Samuel recognized the need for a strong central authority so he anointed a man by the name of Saul to become the first king of Israel. Israel and Egypt both had a monarchy that was respected within their civilization. Although women were not permitted to inherit property or initiate a divorce in Israel, they were greatly respected and had a strong influence over their husbands and the imperial structures that made up their community. In social hierarchy, both the women of Egypt and Israel were an essential part of the civilization. In Egypt women could indeed own and inherit property and dissolve their relationship if they pleased to do so. In both civilizations the women were treated with respect and played significant roles that impacted everyone. The women were like the trustworthy consultant to their partner, no matter the legal rights and social freedom granted. Israel and Egypt have distinct differences in their belief system. Egypt was polytheistic, believing in many gods diverse in origin and nature. The gods were depicted with animal heads and others with human bodies. The Egyptians also believed in the afterlife and that everything was a recurring cycle. This very reason is why the Egyptians created sacred tombs for their deceased deities. They would place the belongings of the deceased in the tombs with them in belief that they would need it in the afterlife. In contrast, Israel is monotheistic, believing in a single divine entity. The Israelites were forced to migrate to Egypt due to famine in Canaan. When they arrived they were captured and enslaved. They were later led out of captivity by Moses, an Israelite with connections to the Egyptian royal family. Moses persuaded the pharaoh to release his people and he let them go. During their migration back it is recorded that the Israelites entered into a pact with their god, Yahweh. Yahweh promised the Israelites that they would be his ââ¬Å"Chosen Peopleâ⬠if they promised to worship him exclusively. This is why the Israelites believe in only one god. With that being said, the imperial structures of Ancient Egypt and Israel were indeed very much alike and made up of similar components. Each society respected and valued their women and had productive imperial structures such as their sophisticated systems of government. Even after being enslaved in Egypt and conjoined with the Egyptians and their religious views many of the people found a way to stay true to their one god and kept their faith after being exposed to the Egyptians many goddesses and gods and that is what I love most about the Israelites.

Tocqueville Analyses Political Society Functioning Politics Essay
Tocqueville Analyses Political Society Functioning Politics Essay The key cultural and economic factors in the Tocquevilles work revolve around social equality and inequality. In his work Tocqueville tend to focus on equality in the society the aristocratic which compromised equality and democracy which maximized equality. Tocqueville recognizes that in America several social forces have allowed people to remain free. Tocqueville talks about burgeoning democratic order and views democracy from the perspective of a detached social scientist. Tocqueville observes democracy as an equation that balances equality and liberty concern for the America society. He finds human to thirst for equality and the desire of the weak to bring the strong down the equal levels reducing men to favor parity in servitude to inequality in freedom. Tocqueville analyses political society functioning and several forms of political associations and has shed some light on the civil society. Similar to Marx and Hegel, Tocqueville demonstrates civil society as a sphere of civil affairs and private entrepreneurship. Justifiably, Tocqueville indicates that equality of social condition has bred civilian and political values which in turn determine the type of legislations to be passed. Tocqueville maintains with Aristotle and Montesquieu that the balances of possessions determine the poise of power. Distinctively positioned at the crossroads of American history; Tocqueville view on American democracy attempted to capture the very fundamental nature of American culture and values. Greenberg Greenberg indicates that within the structure of democratic capitalism in America, the government structure and the constitution have a vitally liberal backbone. The relationship between the government and an individual is through the constitution which read aloud the liberal values fundamentally woven into the rich history of America. The American constitution combined with the Bill of Rights holds the prevailing government accountable for all the actions and sets a finite limit on the power it exercises over a citizen. America as a capitalist society uses wealth distribution and taxation way to control social equity. In keeping with classical liberalism, the society and the state can be viewed as an immense social contract. The central liberal principle that is served by the American constitution limits and separates governmental power. In n keeping with Greenberg argument, the characteristically liberal mistrust of majoritarian tyranny has been continued to the contemporary American politics through the constitution. Liberal concern with individual rights has principally been portrayed in the American customs by the Bill of Rights. Liberalism guarantees individual liberty like freedom of religion, speech and the universal rights of all the American citizens. The function of the Bill of Rights is protection of the American citizen from the abuse of power that might be committed by any part of the government. Individual freedom has been established as one of the hallmarks of liberalism especially fo r the Americas free-market economy; every American citizen is free to choose how they would like to use their income. Generally, liberal principles supports that individuals should pursue their own best interest economically, this mutual pursuit of individual interest encourages improvement and innovation. In regard to the Greenberg argument, the analogy presents that the free market economics is similar to free market for policies and ideas and thus liberal democracy. Underlying the liberal approach to political and economic organization is the assertion that every individual possess equal rights to work, cast their votes and this creates an equal playing-ground in the electoral politics. Arguably, united nation as a country has strayed least from values of liberalism. American constitution is based on fundamental liberal principles protecting individuals and limiting appropriate powers of government. Lipset In keeping with the works of Lipet, formulating a national identity the American nation presents a progressive and a virile society that has abundance of opportunity to all. Lipsets work also depicts a society rich in corrupt affluence; a society with a rising laxity of values and morals, impropriety of taste and a broadening gap between the haves and have-nots. American policies and put by Lipset follows the principles that were set in the federalist. America sort thet nations must focus their interest in their foreign policies. Lipset indicates that one powerful step to American development is the weight of ancient tradition present in most of the states was initially not there. America grew not only as a new nation but also a new society with new set morals and values. However, religion can at some point be seen as a new conventional institution that has played a great role in America. All in all, in the first half a decade the religion defenders were greatly weakened with disesta blishment of Anglican and the New England Congregationalist. Lipset draws a significant connection between democracy and income. In keeping with Lipset, economic development through increased income determine the type of class struggle allowing person in the lower strata to come up with more gradualist views in reference to political change. Factors that seem to be Central in all arguments All the arguments respond to the impact of political and social development of the U.S. to its governance. In keeping with the three arguments it is definite that America has a unique culture which has been developed for a long time. In is fundamental to understand that Tocqueville lays emphasis on liberty, individualism, laissez-faire and egalitarianism as the main driving forces for Democratic republic Do you agree which the idea that the United States is exceptional that the political system here developed in ways that make it very different from political systems in other countries. The distinctive national attribute of the U.S. political and social culture distinguishes the nations from other nations. United States possesses an exceptional political system that is developed in ways that make them very different from political system. U.S. Political system has clearly been defined by elementary documents. The 1776 declaration of independence and the 1789 U.S constitution are the foundations of the United States federal government. In reference to Khan (2003), the declaration of independence institutes the U.S. as a political entity that is independent. The constitution on the other hand, formulates a basic structure of the U.S. federal government. In keeping with Tocqueville, the greatest advantage of the Americans is the fact the country reached to a state of democracy without enduring democratic revolution. Supplementary readings Khan, L. Another Napoleon :: essays research papers
Most historians portray Napoleon's return to France as an example of his disregard for hundreds of thousands of lives in order to satisfy his outsized ambition. We at Napoleon on the Net, however, view the `Hundred Days' as an example of the Emperor's superior charisma and the love for him that it inspired. The support of the common people of France was the basis of Napoleonic rule. The generals and the politicians did not rush to support Napoleon's new adventure, but, as we will show, the front-line soldiers and the common people were determined to uphold the basic principle the Revolution: that it is the people's right to decide the form of their government. Vincent Cronin, in his acclaimed biography of Napoleon, entitled Napoleon Bonaparte: An Intimate Biography (William Morrow & Company, 1972, pp. 391-392), describes Napoleon's first major confrontation with French troops sent by the Bourbon regime to kill or capture him. "Napoleon had 1,100 men against about 700. But he did not want bloodshed. The abhorrence of civil war he had felt twenty years before in Provence remained as strong as ever and, on landing, he had given Cambronne strict orders that not a shot was to be fired. What he did now ws to order his hundred Polish lancers to advance slowly. At this Delessart withdrew his men, in good order, to new positions. The Polish lancers were told to wheel and come back. Napoleon then had the tricolour unfolded and told the Guards' band to play the Marseillaise, which he had described in Elba as `the greatest general of the Revolution'. Forbidden since the return of the Bourbons, the stirring tune had the effect, said one observor, of `electrifying' the Grenoble soldiers. Napoleon started riding towards the men of the 5th. At pistol-shot range he dismounted and walked towards the 700 loaded muskets. He was wearing his grey campaigning overcoat, familiar to every Frenchman. Captain Randon, twenty years old, of Grenoble, called to his men, `There he is! Fire!' After taking a few steps, Napoleon stopped and drew apart the lapels of his overcoat, exposing his white waistcoat. `If you want to kill your Emperor,' he called in loud voice, `here I am!' Back came a tremendous shout of `Long live the Emperor!' The men of the 5th, waving their shakos on bayonets, rushed cheering towards him. `Just see if we want to kill you,' shouted one soldier, rattling his ramrod up and down the barrel of his empty musket. In a matter of minutes the soldiers had whipped from their haversacks the old tricolour

How the Sonnet Form is Associated with Love and Ardent Expression :: Sonnets Love God Essays
How the Sonnet Form is Associated with Love and Ardent Expression Godââ¬â¢s Grandeur is a sonnet associated with the environment and obviously, God. It is an Italian petrarchan sonnet, where there is a noticeable split in the poem which makes up the octave and the sestet. The first four lines of the octave, describes a natural world through which Godââ¬â¢s presence runs through like an electric current, becoming at times noticeable is flashes. A metaphor is used to emphasise Godââ¬â¢s Grandeur as an electric force. Gerard Hopkins suggest that there is some kind of force not to our attention, which builds up a sort of tension which can be both positive or negative. Godââ¬â¢s presence could also be described as a rich oil, which when tapped with a enduring pressure, builds up to a greatness. These comments are stated in the poem, ââ¬ËIt gathers to a greatness, like the ooze of oilââ¬â¢. It is clear to the reader from this point that the love being expressed here is very much towards God, his presence, and the natural world surrounding us. After the poet, Gerard Hopkins, suggests the fact of Godââ¬â¢s presence in the world, he then asks the reader to ask themselves why humans fail to take note of Godââ¬â¢s powerful authority. The word ââ¬Ërodââ¬â¢ in this poem represents Godââ¬â¢s grand authority. The image of electricity also subtlety returns in the fourth line, where the ââ¬Ërodââ¬â¢ of God's punishments calls to mind the lightning rod in which excess electricity in the atmosphere will sometimes disappear. The stressed syllables in the fourth line also reinforce to the reader the question which is being asked here by Hopkins. For example, words such as ââ¬ËCrushed, why, notââ¬â¢ all contribute to the powerful rhythm, which helps put the question across more efficiently. This all contributes in helping the poet convey such a strong ardent expression, which is needed greatly in order for the full effect of the poem to show. In the next line, the strong, falling rhythm of ââ¬Ëhave trod, have trod, have trod,ââ¬Ë recreates the sound of marching footsteps in emphatic onomatopoeia. The message here is of what man has done to the environment, Godââ¬â¢s environment, by using it over the years for various means of transport. The onomatopoeia and alliteration here helps to put the message across because the tension increases by a large amount, resulting in a more exciting and powerful climax. The word ââ¬Ëandââ¬â¢ is used often and the start of lines to compound something which is trying to be said. It helps put across the message more efficiently because the same word is being continuously ââ¬â¢drummedââ¬â¢ into the reader ââ¬â¢And all is searedâ⬠¦And wears manââ¬â¢s smudgeââ¬â¢ etc.
The Renaissance North And South
Southern Renaissance was more secular compared to the Northern. Northern focused solely on religion. Southern focused more on art, but did not disregard religion completely Southern Europeans during the Renaissance focused on art and religion, while the Northern Europeans created many institutions of higher learning, where they taught practical learning, science, and technology. The ââ¬ËGolden Age' as many call it, is believed to be the time in which Europe has finally started to enter the ââ¬ËModern Age. The Southern Renaissance (in Italy) began during the 14th century while the Northern Renaissance is believed to have started during the 1 the century. The Renaissance has increased the popularity of works of art and other fields of stud including: architecture, literature, sciences, politics, and religion. There is quite a few differences between the Southern and Northern Renaissance, and it is also based on the concept of Humanism.Different artists from the south and the nort h have shown these differences in views in their works of art and their concepts in picturing the WA way person lives his or her life. The Northern part of Europe during those times was strongly attached to the teaching gas of Christianity. The church led power, and humanists pictured their society as being more close to God or nature as possible. The North held that Middle Ages belief far longer than their Southern counterpart, and that is also the reason why most of their works of art are about landscapes and the lifestyles of people. The Southern part of Europe (Italy to be more precise) has a very different outlook on how art should be viewed and appreciated. Their artists created paintings about Greg eek and Roman mythologies, about gods and goddesses, and they were always searching for something new and better to create. The colors that they also developed made the nettings seem alive but not in a sense where the painting is the only thing that a person can see. It's more like the viewer can see the object and let his imagination roam freely. The layout of the land might have also played a significant role on how the Renaissance took place in the Northern and Southern parts of Europe. Italy is a place were trade w abundant, and they were exposed to different cultures (Asians and the like). These GA them the option to develop and discover new things. Southerners think that religion I still important, but it is not the only priority that they should be focusing upon. Politic and other sciences were the things that people thought about during those days, and that also changed their way of living.Northerners, on the other hand, was not too exposed to these changes and still clung to their belief of Jesus Christ and the church. The Southern and Northern Renaissance might have a lot of differences, but they have one thing in common: They valued artwork. There even came a time when these artists met and shared their opinions WI the each other. These led to the cr eation of better works of art which are appreciated by t he world today. Summary: 1 .The Southern Renaissance began during the 14th century while the Northern Renaissance was believed to have started during the 16th century. 2. The Northern Part of Europe is strongly attached to Christianity and the church. 3. The Southern Part of Europe during the Renaissance is more focused on the improvement of different fields of science including literature, architecture, politics, a ND religion. 4. Artwork from the North are based on Humanism and Landscapes. 5. Artwork from the South are more about Classical Greek and Roman Mythologies.
